We can understand problem-solving to be the process of achieving a result by clarifying the problem or question, imagining possible solutions or answers, and deciding between those solutions or answers. Problem-solving, therefore, presupposes decision-making.
Insofar as the scientific method is a process of formulating questions, framing hypotheses as answers to those questions, and deciding between these hypotheses, it can be understood as a type of problem-solving.
