Instruction Mission

Working collaboratively with faculty and students, the Libraries Instruction Program promotes information literacy and discovery, critical thinking, and challenges students to consider their role as consumers, producers, and creators of information.

Canvas Tutorials and Quizzes

We can create videos and tutorials specific to the research assignments in your course that can be embedded directly in Canvas for students to view outside of class. We can also create a quiz in Canvas that students can take to demonstrate their mastery of the content.

Instruction and Curriculum Integration

Our library staff works with instructors to create meaningful library experiences for students that can be conducted in person, or synchronously / asynchronously via Zoom. We consider in-person and live Zoom sessions as opportunities to team teach with instructors and help students see the value of library resources as they relate to the learning outcomes of a  specific course assignment. We also welcome collaborating with instructors to integrate information literacy into your program or curriculum.

Embedded Librarian in Canvas

Invite a librarian to your Canvas course to give research advice via a discussion board or to suggest sources for specific research projects students are doing in your course.

Course Research Guides

Librarians can create a course guide with class-specific tools and resources to maximize student success in the research process. These guides stay up for the entire semester on our course guide page. These guides can be made accessible via a link in Canvas and can be accessed by the instructor to make changes or add/delete content.

Primary Resources

Work with our instruction and digital archivist Kyle Neill to integrate primary resources into your classes, and help your students discover first-hand testimony or direct evidence concerning a topic under investigation.
